Youth Ambassadors

The JDRF San Diego Youth Ambassadors are children with T1D, between the ages of 6 and 18, who are involved with the educational and volunteer efforts of JDRFSD.  They are the “face” of JDRF in San Diego.  The responsibilities of this group include providing awareness to our community, while giving volunteer hours to JDRF.  The JDRF Youth Ambassador Program also provides social opportunities to all members to promote friendship, support of each other, and good times!

  • Be within first and twelfth grade (ages 6-18 years old)
  • Have type 1 diabetes
  • Be willing to share his/her personal story in front of large groups and the media
  • Have a positive outlook on life and diabetes
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of participation in volunteer service at JDRF events and community outreach events
  • Commit to participating in the program for a year
  • Make your best effort to attend the social activities
  • Obtain parental permission in writing to be a part of the program
  • Arrange for transportation to and from responsibilities and social activities
